Clay Sculptures:Terra Pearls

The ongoing Terra Pearls series considers the concept of ecological memory—the traces that landscapes, organisms, and environments carry through time. The works exist somewhere between the recognizable and the imagined, resembling artifacts from an ancient geological past while simultaneously suggesting specimens or relics from a distant future. They evoke a world in continual transformation, where boundaries between the geological, biological, and human-made become increasingly fluid.

At the heart of Brandt’s practice is an interest in resilience and adaptation. Rather than depicting nature solely through the lens of environmental loss, her work considers transformation as an ongoing and generative force. Her sculptures reflect on the capacity of natural systems to change, endure, and reconfigure themselves over time.

By combining tactile material processes with an imagined sense of deep time, Brandt creates objects that ask viewers to reconsider their relationship to the natural world. Her sculptures function as both physical forms and speculative artifacts—quiet reminders that the landscapes we inhabit are constantly changing, and that we, too, are part of that transformation.
